In this activity, children will discover the fascinating stories of Carnestoltes and the spirit of nature. We will travel back in time to learn about its traditions, the colors, sounds, and rhythms that awaken the forest during its celebration. After dressing up, we will go outside to make the symbolic fire, tell the legends, and learn about the rituals that celebrated joy, light, and the rebirth of nature each year, just before the calm of spring.

SCHEDULE:

17:00 – Welcome & Costumes
Meet in the Kids area, introduce the characters, and prepare crowns and costumes for Carnestoltes and Llum.

17:30 – Legend & Role Play
Read the legend step by step while children act it out: dancing and waving ribbons as Carnestoltes, moving slowly as Llum and the forest.

18:15 – Symbolic Fire Outdoors
Go outside for the symbolic fire, tell the legend, perform rituals, and place “wishes” or drawings in the fire to celebrate joy and the rebirth of nature.

18:45 – Closing & Reflection
Share experiences and impressions. Children take home a small flower, leaf, or ribbon as a memory of the celebration.
